Created by two music teachers
Music at Your Doorstep began as a Minnesota based, in-home lesson music school called South of the River Music. It was founded in 2004 by two music teachers who wanted to change the face of music education! They took all of their experiences and designed a music school that really takes care of their students and teachers!
- We are one of the only in-home lesson schools in the nation to have a full time staff to support their students and teachers!
- We take care of everything (enrollment, student billing, teacher payroll, scheduling, organizing and paying for recitals, online support, etc.) so you and your teacher can concentrate on what’s really important… your music lessons!!
In 2006, South of the River Music began working with local music retailers and schools, providing in-home lessons for all students who were renting instruments for school band programs. When problems with the economy occurred, we wanted to find a way to give back and support music education in schools and in the community. We developed a music fundraiser program for schools and created scholarships for kids who couldn’t afford music lessons. We then took our in-home lesson idea and applied that to supporting music education in our public and private schools, creating in-school music programs.
In 2008, South of the River Music expanded nationwide as Music at Your Doorstep. They have become community fixtures, providing excellent service and quality music instruction.
